We slept in quite late.
Doing yet another load of laundry just because we can, and unsure we’ll have a machine in the Madrid apartment. We’re using up clothes fast because it’s so hot, so changing midday has been our routine.
Our goal eventually for today was to get to Ponte Vecchio, which is a famous bridge and quite a lovely area. Also, walking to the train station so we’re not surprised tomorrow when we’ve got to do it with luggage. Happy to report we managed both.
On the way to Ponte Vecchio we passed a semi permanent market with loads of stalls. It was stifling because they are all so close together and there’s just so many people.
On a different and recurring note, I now can add to my list of annoying things – people with umbrellas (avoiding sun). I can say in all honesty – all Asians. I guess they consider being tan very low class. Me – I love it. However, back to the annoying part – they have no sense of space and I actually was poked a couple of times. Did not make me happy. I’m turning into a grumpy traveler 😦
Meaning no racial offense, but no brown people with umbrellas!

Continued to wander the city, and came across this amazing artist working on a chalk painting in the street. Stunning.

I guess zooming in on the photo will give a better idea of how lovely this is. I was trying to get a quick pic but so many other people were trying to do the same.
The heat really got to us today so we opted to retreat to the apartment after the required gelato stop.
Our dinner plans were eventually realized around 7:30 at Zio Gigi – a place I’ve been to previously on a girls trip.

We waited nearly an hour for dinner. From what I think I was being told – there was trouble with the oven but eventually sorted it out. Worth the wait. My steak was delicious and Caleb finished his margarita pizza in no time. My steak was a little too big so we’ll be having steak and eggs before we leave in the morning.

Having an early night to rest up for tomorrow’s travel day. Funny how the actual travel really takes it out of you. We arrive in Madrid around 3 pm, so we’ll find the apartment, get unpacked, shower, and out to dinner. that’s the plan.
Until tomorrow…
Good night.
