June 10
As travel days go, it’s been up and down.

Our flight to New York, uneventful. Our 6 hr layover – food filled and lengthy. Caleb found a Game Bar and had a fun hour of video games. I found a sample table of tequila outside the duty free shop. We each have a talent for sniffing out entertainment.
I also played foozball with the lady serving the sample tequila. (I won, and I don’t even know how to play!)
Flight to Madrid uncomfortable with an inconsiderate person in front of me reclining (basically he was in my lap).
Immigration at Madrid airport was disorganized and lengthy. However, we thought we had loads of time. Funny how you can be so wrong.
We managed to catch our train from the airport to Sarria with 6 minutes to spare. If it wasn’t for a kind lady, we would still be at the ticket kiosk trying to get a train ticket.
Train to Sarria really lovely. Seeing the countryside, big comfy seats, ice cold beer and snacks, charger plugs. Glad I opted for the train to get to Sarria from Madrid
Turns out that our hotel is walking distance from the station. We’ll arrive on time to shower and have dinner.
For those of you who travel regularly, you know that airports these days can be anxiety-filled, but getting to visit different places makes it worthwhile for me. I just wish there was less drama. Of course, the thrill of running like a demented traveler while dragging luggage to catch a train, well – you can’t beat it 🙂
Tomorrow, let the walking begin.

What an accomplishment to make “old”d friend. Can’t wait to follow you digitally and hear more about it in August!

we’re excited and also already tired. Just leaving New York shortly for a 7 hr flight and then a 4 hr train ride to our starting city. It’s a long journey before we even start walking! But, so lucky to be doing this. Can’t wait to see you
