Left Ponferrada at 9:05. Arrive Villafranco de Bierzo at 5:05. 15.2 miles.
Fresh figs from the roadside. Delicious. Snacked on these til lunch. We found lots more trees but no more ripe figs. Maybe tomorrow.
So many pretty flowers. Ponferrada is a wealthier part of Spain from what we can tell. Quite a few McMansions.

We saw a couple more in town. It might be a thing for Camponaraya. Can’t think of why though.
Then there’s the local hardware store. Caleb didn’t want to go in so I missed out. Not happy about that. I love any hardware store.
We’re back in wine country
We opted not to stop for the medieval fair in a village we passed through. Not many vendors and we can’t carry much anyway. However, did have a glass of the local wine. It was ok. Caleb had a Pepsi. First place we’ve been not offering Coca Cola.
We didn’t miss much. Mostly people were sitting in outside cafes and just having a drink.
Today’s journey was not nearly as bad as yesterday. However, we still had plenty of hills to contend with, as is the way with the Camino. The uphill was worse than the descent this time. As the downhill seemed to be more gradual. Otherwise, just another day wandering around Spain.
We are getting a little antsy now that we’re close to the end. Both of us are thinking about what we’ll do first when we get home.
Caleb’s list is more impressive than mine. He wants to cook, eat fast food, chop wood, etc. I just want to sleep in my own bed and heal all my blisters. There’s also the matter of the weird tan I’ve got to deal with – it’s not pretty 😂 That might take a while to sort out.
